Please note: regarding Staff Selection, Reference Verification and Background Checks

1. Each candidate will be interviewed and carefully selected. Candidates will fill out an application listing three references, qualifications for the job, prior employment history, including experiences working with children. Interviews, reference questions and responses must be documented and filed with the employment applications at the camp, and available for inspection.

2. The camp director will obtain written references on the character of all camp staff. References will be in writing from persons not related to the candidate and shall include questions specific to the candidate's experiences with children, work history and reasons (if any) why the candidate would not be appropriate for the position. References should be verified by phone.

3. All staff members, including counselors, kitchen workers, maintenance and office staff, volunteer and hired employees, shall be given a *DCJ background check.
