Job Title: Director of Maintenance Qualifications: 1. Must have a valid driver's license. 2. Must have a well rounded skills and abilities for carpentry and grounds maintenance, Light plumbing and electrical experience is helpful. 3. Must be trained in the safe operation of power tools, such as leaf blowers, chain saws, power washers, roto-tiller and so on. 4. Emotional maturity 5. Demonstrated organizational skills 6. Must be self-motivated, able to see when things are out of place or dirty or need repair. Must have the ability to take responsibility for the maintenance of the entire camp (with the exception of the areas the Park is responsible for). 7. Must work well with others, and have the ability to organize and work with a small team of volunteers. 8. Must be a person of demonstrated good character, setting the example for the children. A work team is an excellent place for teaching character education. 9. Willingness to participate in overall camp program. 10. Must pass required background checks and submit three references. Responsibilities: 1. To oversee all physical maintenance of the camp, working with the camp director to prioritize maintenance projects. 2. To be responsible to oversee all trash removal (emptying of trash cans on a daily basis, insure the grounds are free from pieces of trash, keep the area around dumpsters picked up and clean). 3. Check and sign off on fire extinguishers after each program. 4. Check batteries in smoke detectors after each program. 5. Keep cabin screens tight and in repair. Patch holes. Replace broken window glass as needed. 6. Repair broken steps, decks, 7. Organize tool room, keeping tools clean, orderly, and in good repair. 8. Check public bathhouses for plugged toilets, broken plumbing, etc. All public bathrooms shall be kept clean and in good repair at all times. Sometimes the cleaning of these bathroom will be done by the children's camp. The maintenance director shall teach the proper cleaning standard and supply all cleaning tools. 9. Keep public laundry facility clean and maintain smooth operation of washers and dryers. 10. Check propane levels in all tanks and keep Camp Director informed as to when a propane delivery is needed. 11. Chase out or catch bats, as needed. 12. Power wash dining hall on a regular basis, taking care to remove bird droppings. 13. Inform Camp Director of any safety or maintenance issues. 14. Assist in the opening and closing of the camp. 15. Assist in Camp safety and security, being aware of strangers or unauthorized activities. |
