Job Title: Head Cook Qualifications: 1. Must be at least 21 years old. 2. Emotional maturity, good character, integrity, flexible, 3. Enthusiastic, sense of humor, patient, possesses self control 4. Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities. 5. Works well with others, works well with children 6. Must pass required background checks and submit three references. 7. Able to give and follow directions. 8. Ability to plan meals, keeping within the camp budget, that are tasty and nutritious. Must demonstrate cooking abilities to Camp Director and assistant director. Scratch cooking experience required. Responsibilities: 1. Must be able to oversee all functions of the kitchen. 2. Must be able to write menus, order food and supplies, keep an organized, accurate inventory, working in concert with the Camp Director and Assistant Director. 3. Must be able to prepare three nutritious, tasty meals a day and deliver them on time. 4. Must run the kitchen in compliance with the guidelines provided by the Orange County Department of Health. Kitchen must be kept clean and free from vermin, all foods must be covered and stored at the proper temperatures, dishwasher must be monitored daily to insure proper sanitation of all dishes and utensils, etc. 5. Must be able to organize kitchen staff and delegate duties. Must organize kitchen staff schedule and provide for “break time”. 6. Kitchen must be cleaned after each meal, countertops washed with a water/bleach solution, and trash cans emptied. Floors must be washed at the end of each day. 7. Cook must be willing to make cakes, cookies, brownies, etc. as needed, as directed by Camp Director . 8. Cook must be willing to be trained and learn new cooking skills to provide the camp with a high standard of food. Cook must be willing to follow camp recipes, Cook must be willing to follow camp standards of meal presentation. |
